Box Score 2 STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Visiting UW-Platteville scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to win game two 3-2 and complete a sweep of the ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point baseball team in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
UW-Platteville 13, No. 9 UW-Stevens Point 7 | Box George Jester III was 5-for-6 with two runs and five RBI to lead UW-Platteville (8-25, 5-15 WIAC) in game one. The Pioneers had a trio of four-run innings and recorded 14 hits.
Bobby Gregorich (Plover, WI/SPASH) was 3-for-4 with ninth-inning solo home run for UW-Stevens Point (22-9, 10-8 WIAC) and
Kyle McHugh (Polonia, WI/Rosholt) drove in a pair of runs in a 2-for-3 performance. The home run was Gregorich's second of the season and second of the weekend.
The Pioneers scored four runs on three hits in the top of the second after McHugh's single opened the scoring in the first. UW-Stevens Point tied the score at 4-4 after three innings, highlighted by a run-scoring triple by
Taylor Carlson (Madison, WI/LaFollette) in the third.
UW-Platteville took the lead for good with back-to-back four run innings in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Casey Schroeder singled in a pair and Jester III knocked in two more with a double. Jester III also had a two-run single in the seventh, as the Pioneers scored their final eight runs all with two outs.
The first eight UW-Platteville runs were charged to
Cam Seidl (Appleton, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran), who lost for the first time this season, despite striking out seven in 5.2 innings. Mike Boushley picked up the win for the visitors, his third of the season, yielding two earned runs in seven innings.

Luke Watson (Appleton, WI/Xavier), as UW-Platteville completed the sweep. Watson suffered his first loss of the season (5-1) after throwing five innings and striking out four.
After the Pioneers scored in the top of the first, the Pointers took a 2-1 lead by scoring once in the second and once more in the third. In the second, Gregorich hit a one-out double to right and
Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) followed with a single to right. McHugh doubled in
Riley Spetz (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sevastopol) with two outs in the bottom of the third.
Austin Daniels improved to 3-3 on the season for UW-Platteville. Daniels gave up two runs on six hits in the five-inning game. Ryan Duva was the lone player on either team with two hits in game two.
UW-Stevens Point looks to return to the win column on Wednesday, April 30 in a doubleheader at Ripon. Play is scheduled to begin at noon.
