Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point handed 10th-ranked Rowan its first loss of the season by a 12-10 score on Tuesday afternoon at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

The Pointers (6-1) and Profs (6-1) combined for 22 runs on 21 hits in the game. In a game that saw four lead changes, UW-Stevens Point scored four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to dig out of a 5-2 hole and build a 12-6 lead after the middle innings.
Kyle McHugh (Polonia, WI/Rosholt),
Brandon Kranz (Waukesha, WI/West),
Taylor Carlson (Madison, WI/LaFollette) and
Cody Hanke (Marathon, WI/Marathon) each had two hits for the Pointers. Hanke led the way, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs.
UW-Stevens Point took the lead in the fifth inning as Hanke drove in Carlson and Kranz with a three-run home run. The Pointers then scored on a hit by pitch, a run-scoring single by Kranz, a walk by Carlson, a sacrifice fly by Hanke and an RBI single by
Harry Steldt (West Bend, WI/West) in the five-run sixth.
Cam Seidl (Appleton, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) picked up his second win of the young season, going seven innings on the mound. After a complete game shutout in his first start, Seidl gave up nine runs but had plenty of run support.
Zach Wendorf (Merrill, WI/Merrill) recorded the last five outs to earn the save.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to rain. The Pointers take on third-ranked Southern Maine, the team that eliminated UWSP from the NCAA Division III World Series last season, on Wednesday, March 19 at 9:45 a.m.
