Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) went 5-1 as the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team finished 15th at the prestigious Pete Willson Invite, hosted by Wheaton (Ill.).

Wozniak opened the day at 197 with an 8-3 win over Casey Greenberg of North Central. He followed that with a pin in 1:19 over Olivet's Thomas Hall. Wozniak improved to 3-0 with a 6-0 decision in the championship quarterfinals. A 3-1 setback in the championship semifinals was the only blemish on the day for Wozniak, who won his wrestleback match with a forfeit and then posted a decisive 11-0 victory in the third place match.
Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford) opened the day with a pin in just 39 seconds and followed that with a 13-2 major decision in the second round. Simmons first loss of the day came in the championship quarterfinals, a 9-7 defeat against Josh Tardy of North Central. Simmons posted another major victory in the wrestleback round, 12-4 and a 4-2 win in the quarterfinals to advance to the wrestleback semifinals before suffering an injury. Simmons was forced to forfeit the final two bouts of the day, but finished sixth at 157.
Jered Kust finished in seventh place at 141, finishing the day 4-2. Kust opened the day with a technical fall in 4:48 and a 9-3 decision in the second round. A narrow 2-0 defeat in the quarterfinals sent him to the fourth round wrestleback, where he advanced to the quarterfinals with a pin in 4:07. A 2-1 loss in the quarters send Jered to the seventh place match where he picked up the 9-2 win to finish seventh.
Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) finished the tournament 2-2, dropping his opening match but fighting his way back through the wrestleback rounds before falling to Brandon Preston of Trine. Jordan Kroranda and
Bill Langford (Westosha, WI/Westosha Central) also posted 2-2 records on the day.
The Pointers close out the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at home on Friday, Feb. 7 against 14th-ranked UW-La Crosse. Action from Berg Gym gets underway at 7 p.m..
