LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team went 0-3 on Saturday, falling to two top 25-ranked teams and losing its third decision via the tiebreak at the 2014 UW-La Crosse Candlewood Suites Duals at Mitchell Hall.
The Pointers opened the day against 22nd-ranked Cornell College. The Pointers posted wins at three weight classes in the match including major decision victories by
Jared Kust (Shawano, WI/Shawano) (11-1) at 141 pounds and
Cody Nielsen (Oconto Falls, WI/Oconto Falls) (15-7) at 184 and a pin by Taylor Bauman at 197, but it was the Rams who came away with the 21-14 victory.

In the final match of the day, against 10th-ranked Wartburg, the Knights earned victories at all 10 weight classes to secure the 41-0 victory.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action with a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference duals this week. Tuesday the Pointers head south to Whitewater for a match-up with the Warhawks before returning home to host UW-Platteville on Friday, Dec. 12. Both contests are set for 7 p.m. starts.
