WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) and Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) went 3-0 and Jordan Koranda (Marshfield, WI/Marshfield) was 2-0 as the No. 25 UW-Stevens Point wrestling team went 2-1 on the opening day of the 2014 Whitehill Duals, hosted by Lycoming College.
 
The Pointers opened the day with a 23-15 setback to Williams. Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon), Hermsen, Wozniak and Koranda tallied victories for the Pointers.
 
The Pointers rebounded with a win in the consolation bracket, defeating York 25-14. Ryan Osse (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge), John Roycraft (Omro, WI/Winneconne), Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford), Hermsen, Wozniak and Koranda tallied wins in the victory.
 
The Pointers continued their way through the consolation bracket with a 35-9 victory over Coast Guard Academy. Osse, David Granatelli (Appleton, WI/Appleton North), Fabry, Simmons, Hermsen, Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/Central), Andy Borchard and Wozniak all recorded victories for the Pointers.
 
The Pointers take on The College of New Jersey to open day two of the Whitehill Duals. Action begins Saturday morning.
