WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Pointers needed only one run on Saturday as junior
Max Frederick (New London, WI/New London) threw a gem, scattering five Case Western Reserve hits on the afternoon as UW-Stevens Point secured its fifth trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series with a 1-0 win in the Midwest Regional Championship game.

This marks the fifth trip to the College World Series for UW-Stevens Point (39-9) and the fourth in the last eight years. The Pointers also set a new school record for wins in a season, eclipsing the previous mark of 38, set in 2005.
Scoreless through six and a half innings of play,
Riley Spetz (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sevastopol) singled in the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, earning the Pointers the the 1-0 victory.
Frederick went 7.2 innings, scattering five hits while striking out three.
Tyler Flood (Madison, WI/La Follette) came on in relief in the eighth and was perfect to earn the save, his third of the year.
The teams combined for 11 hits.
Jimmy Coady (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas), the regional's Most Outstanding Player, finished the game 2-for-3 and
Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West) finished 2-for-4.
The Pointers will take on Manchester University (Ind.), the winner of the Rose Hullman Regional, on Friday, May 24. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
