STEVENS POINT, Wis. - It was a tale of two games as the UW-Stevens Point baseball team split a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with UW-Oshkosh Wednesday afternoon at University Field.
The Pointers claimed game one 18-8 in seven innings, while the Titans returned the favor, taking the nightcap 12-7.

In
game one, Oshkosh jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Pointers quickly responded with four runs of their own in the home half of the frame.
Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West) and
Jimmy Coady (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas) each blasted a 2-run home run to help Point take a 4-3 lead it would not relinquish.
Schilter played catalyst again, an inning later, knocking a leadoff single before coming around to score on an error.
Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) tacked on another with an RBI single.
Bryton Guckenberg (Trego, MT/Lincoln County) followed suit with a single that plated two runs to push the Pointers' edge to 8-3 after two.
UWSP tacked on three more in the third, two of which came from
Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) and Coady who came up with back-to-back RBI triples.
Oshkosh got a run back in the fourth, but Point posted four more in the bottom of the inning when Barnes connected for a grand slam, his first home run of the season.
The offensive onslaught continued with a three-run fifth. Gerber and Coady posted back-to-back run-scoring triples for the second time in the contest, making it 18-4 in favor of the home team.
The Titans threatened to extend the game with a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh, but were unable to plate the elusive ninth run.
Starting pitcher
JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls) tossed five innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two en route to picking up the win.
Brad Stroik (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) came out of the bullpen to secure the victory. He pitched two innings and allowed four runs on two hits, recording two strikeouts while surrendering a pair of free passes.
Barnes finished the game 3-5 with seven RBIs.
Game two got off to a similar start, but ended in much different fashion.
Once again, it was Oshkosh that drew first blood. The Titans picked up two runs in the opening inning, followed by six more in the second to get out to an 8-0 advantage.
Pointers starter
Zach Wendorf (Merrill, WI/Merrill) was chased after just 1.2 innings of work. He allowed six runs, two earned, struck out two, and walked one.
UWSP got on the board in the bottom of the second when Guckenberg and Douglas each produced an RBI-single.
The Titans picked up two more runs a half-inning later to push their edge back to eight at 10-2.
Gerber brought the Pointers back within seven with a run-scoring single in the fourth, but Oshkosh stretched the lead back to eight in the fifth.
Point appeared to make some headway with three runs in the sixth thanks, in part, two a 2-run shot from Schilter, his second of the day.
But it wouldn't be enough as the Titans would tack on an insurance run in the ninth and the Pointers would muster just one more run of their own in the final three frames.
Schilter finished the day 4-10 with a walk, two home runs, and four RBIs.
The Pointers will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to La Crosse to open up a four-game weekend series with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
