Pointers outlast DePauw in shootout, 19-14

AUBURNDALE, Fla.- The bats were busy at Lake Myrtle Field on Monday, and when the dust cleared UW-Stevens Point Pointers had a 19-14 win over the Tigers of DePauw.

There were 33 hits, including nine extra-base hits in the game.
 
UWSP hit three home runs in the win as Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) homered in the second inning, Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) homered in the fifth, and Riley Spetz (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sevastopol) homered in the eighth.
 
Spetz racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Pointers, singling in the fourth and fifth innings, doubling in the seventh inning, and homering in the eighth inning.
 
Even though Brad Stroik (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) allowed six runs over five innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered seven hits.
 
UWSP easily handled DePauw pitching as six hitters combined for 19 hits, 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
 
The Pointers (6-2) return to action on Tuesday, March 26 against Elmhurst (Ill.). First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
