STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Josh Daley (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin Catholic) and
Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) each tallied goals on Friday night to give the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team a 2-1 win and a series lead in the Peters Cup Quarterfinals.

The win gives UWSP a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-two quarterfinal matchup. The Pointers now need a win or a tie on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the final Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) playoffs for the fourth straight season.
Daley got the Pointers on the board midway through the opening frame, scoring off a
Jerry Freismuth (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) assist.
River Falls tied the game at 1-1 just 4:26 into the second period when Cody Kohn scored to even the scoring.
Kolb responded for the home team at the 13:40 mark of the second, again putting the Pointers in front 2-1.
In the third, the Pointers defense turned away several scoring opportunities by the Falcons and
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) stopped six of his game-high 26 shots in the final period to preserve the victory.
The third-seeded Pointers, ranked No. 15 in the latest D3hockey.com poll, will again host the Falcons at K.B. Willett on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. With at least one point, UWSP advances to the Peters Cup semis.
