STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford) took first and
Jared Kust (Shawano, WI/Shawano) and
Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, WI/Central) finished runners-up as the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team hosted the annual Pointer Open tournament at the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH).

Simmons took home the 157-pound weight class title, advancing to the championship match with three straight pins. In the title bout, Simmons posted a 6-4 victory over Dan Argueta of UW-Parkside.
Kust's only loss on the day came in the championship bout of the 141-pound weight class, where he fell to the nation's top-ranked wrestler in the weight class, Nathaniel Behnke of UW-Eau Claire.
Diebitz finished as runners-up at 174-pounds, winning by pin fall in his first bout and advanced to the finals via an injury but fell to UW-Oshkosh'sDan Schiferl in the title bout.

David Granatelli (Appleton, WI/Appleton North) finished third at 125,
Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) finished third and
Ryan Osse (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) fifth at 133,
John Roycraft (Omro, WI/Winneconne) finished fourth and
Lucas McGann (Merrimac, WI/Baraboo) fifth at 149,
Logan Hermsen (Amherst Junction, WI/Amherst) finished fifth at 157,
Ben Thome (Stevens Point, WI/Oconto) fourth at 165, and
Bill Langford (Westosha, WI/Westosha Central) fourth at 174.
The Pointers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 13 when they host Concordia (Wis.) in nonconference action beginning at 7 p.m.
