MEQUON, Wis. – A pair of third and fifth place finishes highlighted the day as the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team competed at the annual Concordia (Wis.) Open Saturday.

Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) and
Jordan Koranda (Marshfield, WI/Marshfield) each posted third place finishes on the day while
Jamey Simmons (Abbotsford, WI/Abbotsford) and
Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) collected fifth place showings at the tournament.
Wozniak posted a pair of victories before dropping his semifinal match-up to Wartburg's Punahele Soriano. Wozniak wrestled his way back and in the third place match-up registered a 13-4 major decision victory over Wheaton (Ill.) Mitchell Steed.
Koranda dropped his opening round match-up to Wheaton's Taylor Gohn but fought his way back, recording seven straight victories, six by pin including one over Gohn, to secure a third place finish.
Simmons posted three straight victories to start the day before falling in his semifinal bout. Simmons tallied a 13-2 victory in his fifth place match-up against North Central's Josh Tardy.
Fabry won his opening round match-up over Augustana's Cj Sojka before dropping a 3-1 decision in the second round. Fabry then posted four straight victories before falling in the consolation semifinals.
The Pointers return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 with a conference match-up against the Titans of UW-Oshkosh. Action begins at 7 p.m.
