Men’s hockey downs St. Scholastica, 5-3

Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team scored four goals in the final four minutes of the first period to power past the Saints Friday evening at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Dylan Wizner (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji) broke a scoreless game 16 minutes into the first period off the stick of Jon Bockmann (Wind Lake, WI/Muskego).
 
The Pointers went on to take a 4-0 lead after the first as Alex Brooks (Grand Rapids, MI/), Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/) and Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) all tallied goals in the final four minutes of the period.
 
The Saints responded, scoring three goals of their own, one in the second period and two in the third.
 
Henegar shut down St. Scholastica's late game surge, scoring his second goal of the evening midway through the third period.
 
Eight different Pointers recorded an assist on the evening; Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) led the way with two.
 
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) recorded the win in net, tallying 36 saves. The Saints used two different goalies in the loss, Rundell and Bruggeman, who combined for 26 saves.
 
UWSP (11-6-1, 5-5-1 NCHA) and St. Scholastica (4-11-1, 1-8-0 NCHA) will hit the ice again tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
