MINNEAPOLIS - The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team finished 1-1 on day one of the 2012 Augsburg Invitational Tournament on Friday evening, winning its opening match 3-1 over St. Scholastica before falling to the host Auggies 3-1 in the nightcap.

Three Pointers tallied double-digit kills and the Pointers hit .204 as a team as the Pointers rolled to a 3-1 victory over the College of St. Scholastica in the opening round game.
The Pointers dropped the opening set to the Saints 25-21 but rebounded with 25-23, 25-22, 25-11 victories in the final three sets to secure their fourth win of the season.
Brinkman posted a game-high 12 kills while
Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) added 11 and
Allison Davis (Rochelle, IL/Rochelle Township) added 10.
Alexis Hartman (Deer Park, IL/Lake Zurich) had a team-best 43 assists and Brinkman chipped in with 20 digs. Davis finished the match with nine blocks.
In the nightcap, the Pointers fell behind 2-0 before recording a 25-23 victory in the third set, but the host Auggies closed out the win with a 26-24 victory in the fourth set.
The Pointers (4-2) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 8 with games against Gustavus and St. Benedict. The opening match is set for 9 a.m.
