STEVENS POINT, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point head women's volleyball coach
Lyndsay Klapper has announced Carly Kempton as the program's next assistant coach.
"I'm so thankful for the opportunity to join women's volleyball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point," said Kempton. "Being back in Wisconsin means a lot to me and makes this opportunity even more special. I'm grateful to Coach Lyndsay and the UWSP Athletics staff for this opportunity. UWSP is known as one of the premier schools in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and I'm excited to be part of that. I'm passionate about building strong relationships, creating a competitive, team-first environment, and developing student-athletes on and off the court."
Kempton comes to UWSP after spending the last three seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Virginia's College at Wise. There, she helped UVA Wise make consecutive South Atlantic Conference postseason appearances. In 2025, the team led the SAC in blocks and was second in the conference in blocks per set.
At UVA Wise, she also managed travel logistics, collaborated on team practice plans and coordinated home tournaments. She worked with the head coach on recruiting and assisted in the execution of summer camps.
"We are thrilled to welcome her to our staff," said Klapper. "Her wealth of experience, strong connections to Wisconsin, and her genuine passion for developing well-rounded student-athletes makes her an outstanding addition to our program. I believe she will elevate our program across the community, in the classroom, and on the court. Today is a great day for Pointers women's volleyball."
Prior to UVA Wise, Kempton was a graduate assistant coach at William Penn University for two seasons. She helped lead the Statesmen to a 21-win season and the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.
A native of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Kempton was a coach at Oconomowoc High School and the Oconomowoc Volleyball Club before her time at WPU. She also had coaching stints with the Midwest Penguins from Milwaukee and the Eau Claire Air Volleyball Club.
Kempton played for UW-Eau Claire from 2011 to 2013. While there, she helped the Blugolds to a WIAC championship in 2012 and two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
Kempton graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2016 with a bachelor of arts in education, English and coaching. She earned her masters of sports management from William Penn in 2023.
