MEQUON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team opened the season in dominating fashion, placing five runners in the top 15 on Saturday on the way to a first-place finish at the 20th Annual Concordia Invitational.
Results
Alex Gonzales (West Allis, WI/West Allis) led the way with a fourth-place finish for the Pointers, crossing the finish line in a time of 26:36. Neil Pederson and
Spencer Houk (Sun Prairie/Sun Prairie) finished just behind Gonzales in fifth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 26:41 and 26:45.
Ethan Nault (Peshtigo, WI/Peshtigo) and
Wesley Vann (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield) rounded out the top five finishers for the Pointers, as they crossed the finish line in 27:01 and 27:16, respectively.
Stephen Nelson (Waukegon, IL/Waukegon),
Hunter Smith (Nekossa, WI/Nekossa) and
Calvin VanRyzin (Appleton, WI/Appleton) placed in the top 31 on the day as well for UWSP.
The Pointers return to the course on Friday, Sept. 21 at the Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
