Men's cross country runs sixth at WIAC Championship

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country ran to a sixth-place finish in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship held at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) was the top individual finisher for the Pointers. Sullivan's time of 25:32 was good for 22nd in the field of 102 runners. Alex Gonzales (West Allis, WI/West Allis) (30th) was also in the top 30 runners with a time of 25:51.

Michael Moore (LaGrange, IL/Lyons Township) (39th), James Heroux (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sevastopol) (40th) and Michael Evans (Reedsville, WI/Valders) (42nd) completed the top five for UWSP. As a team, UW-Stevens Point ended with 152 points to put it sixth of the nine teams. UW-La Crosse had all five of its runners in the top 15 to take the title.

David Hebert (Iron River, MI/West Iron County) was the UWSP representative on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Pointers and the rest of the WIAC will compete at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., on Nov. 16.
