Six different Pointers help lead scoring attack against Platteville

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team started the scoring attack early and never looked back as it went on to beat UW-Platteville 7-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Less than five minutes into the game, senior Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha) was able to slip past the defense and score the game's first goal.

The Pointers went on to score three more goals in the half as Corey Reid (Rochester, MN/Century), Sammy Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford), and Emily Dietrich (Franklin, WI/Muskego) all found the back of the net.

The Pointers wasted no time after the break as Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) scored 50 seconds into the second half.

In the 57th minute, Greer scored her second goal of the day and sophomore Hannah Burt (Wind Lake, WI/Muskego) recorded her first goal of the season 64th minute to cap off the Pointers scoring.

Sophomores Kim Gietman (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) and Alexis Kniprath (Vespar, WI/Wisconsin Rapids) both recorded assists on the afternoon.

The UW-Stevens Point soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 19 when it travels to Oshkosh to take on the Titans. Action is set for 7 p.m.
