STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team outscored the Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus 4-0 Saturday afternoon to pick up the first win of the 2012 season.

The Pointers struck early on a deep goal from
Shelley Samuel (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac), her first career goal as a Pointer.
Two minutes later the Pointers found the back of the net again on a goal by
Kim Jobke (Menomonee Falls, WI/Sussex Hamilton). The Pointers capped off the first half with a goal by senior
Sammy Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford).
Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha) had the fourth and final goal for the Pointers in the 65th minute. She also finished the day with two assists.
Jessica Ruch (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) recorded three assists on the day.
The Pointers outstanding defense helped shut down the Gusties, allowing only allowed three shots on goal all game.
In the first game of the day UW-Oshkosh overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the University of St. Thomas 2-1.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action at home on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 4 p.m. against Carthage.
