EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team split its final two matches of the opening weekend on Saturday to finish 3-1 overall on opening weekend. The Pointers opened the day with a 3-1 loss against St. Benedict (Minn.) before defeating Concordia-Moorhead 3-2.

The win over Moorhead avenges the last loss of the 2011 season for the Pointers, a thrilling 3-2 defeat in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
In the opener against St. Benedict,
Sarah Wildish (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) led the way with 11 kills and 18 digs while
Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) added nine.
Allison Davis (Rochelle, IL/Rochelle Township) tallied seven blocks while
Alexis Hartman (Deer Park, IL/Lake Zurich) tallied 25 assists.
Against the Cobbers of Concordia-Moorhead, it was Wildish who again powered the Pointers, recording 15 kills.
Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) and Brinkman each chipped in 11 kills while Hartman recorded 42 assists and
Cassidy Kohlhagen (Racine, WI/Union Grove) chipped in 12 digs.
The Pointers (3-1) return to action on Sept. 7-8 with four games at the Augsburg Invitational Tournament in Minneapolis.
