OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team salvaged a split against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday afternoon, dropping the opener 5-4 before rallying with an 11-1 win in seven innings in game two.

Back-to-back doubles to start the game led to an early 2-0 lead for the Pointers. The host Titans cut the deficit in half with a run in the third.
Another pair of runs in the fifth gave the Pointers a 4-1 edge, but the Titans battled back to tie the game in the home half of the inning, 4-4.
In the seventh, a passed ball scored Oshkosh's Tyler Kamps and gave the Titans a one-run advantage.
The Titans' Matt Wells shut down the Pointers for the final two innings as the Titans took the opener, 5-4.
Zach Wendorf (Merrill, WI/Merrill) suffered the loss, dropping to 1-2 on the season. Starter
Max Frederick (New London, WI/New London) threw four innings, striking out three but did not factor in the decision.
Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) drove in a pair of UWSP runs while
Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) and
Justin Jirschele (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) each collected two hits.
In the nightcap, the Pointers overcame an early 1-0 deficit thanks in part to a seven-run sixth inning to cruise to the run-shortened victory.
Cam Seidl (Appleton, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) improved his record to 2-1 on the season, allowing just two hits in a complete game performance, striking out seven.
Douglas,
Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) and
Riley Spetz (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sevastopol) each tallied two RBIs in the victory.
UW-Stevens Point (14-8, 6-4 WIAC) returns to action with a four game series at home against UW-Superior April 14-15.
