RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team could not slow down the red-hot shooting UW-River Falls Falcons as it fell 76-51 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Semifinals on Friday evening.
The Falcons came out in the first half on a 13-7 run just over four minutes into the contest and with 6:28 remaining, UWRF pulled ahead by 11 at 26-15.
UWSP could not get the UWRF lead under double figures the rest of the half and the Falcons took a 38-23 lead into halftime.
The second half was similar to the first as UWRF started the period on a 10-0 run to open up a 25-point lead, 48-23 with just under 17 minutes to play.
The Falcons played with a 20-point plus advantage throughout the rest of the half, resulting in a 76-51 victory to advance to the WIAC Championship game.
Senior
Jordan Brezinski (Muskego, WI/Muskego) led the Pointers with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting while collecting a team-high eight rebounds.
Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) tallied 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three.
UWRF's Ollie White led all scorers with 22 points, connecting on 10-of-11 field goal, attempts while Shane Manor (12) and Wade Guerin (10) also scored in double figures.
For the game, River Falls shot 58.5 percent compared to 35.1 for UWSP.
UW-Stevens Point (20-7) will now wait until Monday to see if it receives an at-large bid for the NCAA Division III Tournament.
