STEVENS POINT, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point head men's basketball coach
Kent Dernbach has announced the promotion of
Eddie Goldston to Associate Head Coach.
Goldston has been instrumental in the continued growth of the Pointer men's basketball program, playing a significant role in recruiting, player development, game preparation, and establishing the culture that has helped return UWSP to national prominence.
"One thing I have always believed is that we want to hire amazing humans who happen to also be really good basketball coaches," said Dernbach. "Eddie is exactly that. He is a tremendous person who genuinely cares about our student-athletes, our program, and the people around him. When you are working to rebuild a program, you need people alongside you who believe in the vision, are willing to put in the work, and take pride in doing things the right way. Eddie has consistently been that person for our program. His loyalty, work ethic, and investment in our players have been invaluable. He has taken tremendous ownership in what we are building, and I trust him immensely. This promotion is well-earned and reflects the impact he has made and the leadership he continues to provide.
"I believe Eddie has all the qualities to be an outstanding head coach someday, and when that opportunity comes, there's going to be a program that is incredibly fortunate to have him leading it. Until then, we're fortunate to have him here at UWSP."
Goldston's promotion comes as the Pointers continue their upward trajectory, earning a top-four seed in the WIAC Tournament in each of the past three seasons, highlighted by a second-place conference finish in 2025–26. That season also saw UWSP return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years, further solidifying the program's resurgence.
This season, the Pointers were selected to win the WIAC in the conference preseason poll released this week. UWSP is ranked No. 8 in the d3hoops.com preseason poll entering the 2026-27 season.
