STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball program is proud to announce the naming of the Mike and Jill Williams Basketball Locker Room in recognition of the Williamses' generosity, longtime support and commitment to Pointers basketball.

Through a significant gift from Mike and Jill Williams, the men's basketball locker room in Quandt Fieldhouse was completely renovated, creating a first-class space designed to enhance the daily experience of current and future Pointers student-athletes.

The newly named Mike and Jill Williams Basketball Locker Room serves as much more than a place for players to prepare for practices and games. It is a space where relationships are built, teams come together and generations of Pointers basketball players share in the culture and tradition of the program.

"Mike and Jill have invested in our program in so many ways, and having their names permanently connected to our locker room is incredibly fitting. The improvements to this space don't stop with the physical renovation, but extend to supplemental nutrition and equipment that helps our young men recover, develop and perform at their best," said UW-Stevens Point head men's basketball coach Kent Dernbach. "They believe deeply in our players and in what Pointers basketball represents. Their generosity allowed us to completely transform this space, but their impact on our program extends well beyond this project."

Longtime fans and supporters of UW-Stevens Point men's basketball, Mike and Jill are members of the program's Backcourt Club and have served on the Backcourt Club Coaches Committee, providing leadership and support to initiatives designed to strengthen the student-athlete experience and advance the program.

Mike also spent a significant portion of his professional career with Stevens Point-based Sentry Insurance, where he held senior leadership roles during his tenure with the company.

"Mike and Jill aren't people who simply support Pointer Basketball from a distance," Dernbach said. "They have invested their time, their leadership and their resources in helping our program move forward. They care about the people in our program, and they understand what we are trying to build. We are incredibly grateful that future generations of Pointers will walk into a space bearing their names."

The renovation transformed the locker room into a modern environment for UWSP student-athletes while maintaining a connection to the history and tradition of one of the most accomplished basketball programs in NCAA Division III.

For Mike and Jill, the gift reflects a longstanding relationship with Pointers basketball and a desire to positively impact the players who represent UW-Stevens Point.

"Pointers basketball has meant a great deal to us for many years. We have tremendous respect for the young men who represent the program and for the coaches who invest so much in them. We wanted to help provide those student-athletes with a space that reflects the pride, tradition and expectations that come with being part of UW-Stevens Point basketball. We are honored to be able to support the program in this way."

The Mike and Jill Williams Basketball Locker Room will serve current and future Pointers basketball student-athletes for years to come and represents the important role private support continues to play in enhancing the student-athlete experience at UW-Stevens Point.

The plaque recognizing Mike and Jill Williams reads:
"The Mike and Jill Williams Basketball Locker Room honors their generosity and commitment to UW-Stevens Point Men's Basketball. Through their impactful gift, this space was completely renovated, creating a first-class environment that supports and inspires student-athletes.

Mike and Jill's leadership and service on the Backcourt Club Coaches Committee have played a meaningful role in strengthening our program and advancing the Pointer basketball tradition.

Their investment reflects a deep belief in our student-athletes, our culture, and the future of Pointer Basketball."
