MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After fourth-ranked Augsburg took a 10-0 lead, UW-Stevens Point came to within five, 18-13, but the Auggies closed out the dual with a pair of victories to secure the 24-13 win over the Pointers Friday evening.
 
Augsburg held a 10-0 lead when Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano) tallied the Pointers' first win of the night, upsetting fifth-ranked Will Keeter of Augsburg 7-5 in overtime.
 
The momentum from the victory gave UW-Stevens Point an edge, as Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI/Neenah), Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) and Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) each tallied victories and Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) nearly pulled off the victory at 174, pulling UWSP to within just five points, 18-13 with just two weight classes remaining.
 
The Auggies narrowly escaped with a victory at 197 pounds, as sixth-ranked Brad Baus defeated Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) by just one point, 3-2.
 
At heavyweight, Augsburg's Chad Johnson, ranked No. 1 in the nation, sealed the victory with an 8-3 decision over Matt Cuadra (Oshkosh, WI/West).
 
UW-Stevens Point (7-15) closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 18 with a conference dual at UW-Eau Claire. Action begins at noon.
