STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team needed all five sets on Friday evening but defeated UW-Oshkosh 3-2 to advance to its second straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship Match.

The Pointers downed the Titans 25-21, 14-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-8 to advance to the title game, where they will face UW-Eau Claire, winners of the evening's other semifinal match against UW-Whitewater, 3-1.
Each set was completely different that the preceding, as the Pointers looked dominant in the opening set, pulling away midway through and rolling to the 25-21 win.
In the second set, it was the rival Titans who looked like the dominant squad, holding the Pointers to a .086 hitting percentage with seven errors as they cruised to the 25-14 victory.
The back-to-back regular-season champion Pointers again looked dominant in the third set, easily taking down the Titans thanks to 14 kills on just 32 attempts, earning the 25-15 win.
The back-and-forth plan continued in the fourth set as the Titans capitalized on eight hitting errors by the Pointers to force a decisive fifth set with a 25-18 win.
The final set swung back in the Pointers favor as
Sarah Wildish (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) served UWSP out to an early 8-2 lead and the team cruised from there, earning the 15-8 victory.
Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) and
Kati Rau (Dorchester, WI/Colby) each tallied 10 kills on the evening to pace the Pointers.
Alexis Hartman (Deer Park, IL/Lake Zurich) tallied a team-best 39 assists and four different Pointers tallied 14-plus digs, led by 23 from
Hannah Picel (West Bend, WI/West Bend West).
Allison Davis (Rochelle, IL/Rochelle Township) tallied nine block assists in the match.
UW-Stevens Point takes on Eau Claire in the championship match, scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday. The third place match between the UW-Whitewater Warhawks and UW-Oshkosh Titans is slated for a 12 p.m. start in Berg Gym.
