STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Kyle Heck (Plover, WI/SPASH) and
Johnny Meo (Vernon Hills, IL/Ursuline) each tallied two goals on Friday evening as the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team picked up its first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) victory of the season with a 6-1 win over the Falcons.

Jerry Freismuth (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) started the scoring early in the evening, recording his first goal of the season just 1:28 into the opening period, giving UWSP the 1-0 edge.
Heck scored a pair of goals in the second period, one at the 5:08 mark of the period and another on the power play less than a minute later, giving the Pointers the 3-0 advantage.
Jon Bockman made it 4-0 Pointers at the 11:28 mark of the second before UW-River Falls managed to strike back with an even-strength goal at 18:52. The Pointers held a 4-1 lead heading into the third.
In the final period, Meo lit the lamp with his first two goals of the season, one just 19 seconds into the third and the second at the 14:04 mark of the final stanza.
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) picked up the win in net for the Pointers, stopping 13 of the 14 shots on net. Scott Lewan suffered the loss, allowing all six UWSP goals before leaving the game in the third.
UW-Stevens Point (4-4-0, 1-4-0 NCHA) and UW-River Falls (4-3-0, 0-3-0 NCHA) return to the ice at K.B. Willett Arena Saturday evening for the final game of the weekend series. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.
