SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team could not capitalize on 11 UW-Superior penalties on Saturday evening as the host Yellowjackets closed out the weekend series with a 4-2 victory at Wessman Ice Arena.

The Pointers fell behind five minutes into the contest as the Yellowjackets' Marc Fortin began the scoring on an even-strength goal.
In the second, UWS's Jeff Forsythe extended the Yellowjackets lead to 2-0 on a power-play score at the 2:34 mark.
Senior captain Jerry Friesmuth pulled the Pointers back to within one with his unassisted goal at the 11:36 mark.
One minute later, Superior answered the Friesmuth goal with a power-play goal by Kyle Leahy, extending the lead back to two, 3-1.
The Pointers'
Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/) tacked on a goal at the 15:37 mark of the second period to end the second stanza at 3-2.
Scoreless through almost the entire third period, Superior added an empty-net goal with just five seconds left in the game to go on to the 4-2 victory.
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) suffered the loss, stopping 21 shots on target for UWSP. His counterpart, Drew Strandberg, stopped 17 UWSP shots on target.
The Pointers (3-4-0, 0-4-0 NCHA) return home to K.B. Willett Arena for a weekend series against UW-River Falls. Action Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday is also Parents Night and will be a canned food drive benefiting The Cupboard, UWSP's student food pantry.
