STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team outshot the Cardinals of St. Mary's University 27-3 on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 nonconference victory at the Point Soccer Bowl.

The Pointers (7-3) peppered the St. Mary's defense in the opening half, recording 14 total shots before finally breaking through in the 42nd minute when
Sammy Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford) put the Pointers on the board, scoring unassisted.
Two minutes later
Kelsey Majerus (Cottage Grove, MN/Park) sent home a
Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) pass to give the Pointers a 2-0 advantage at the half.
In the 82nd minute the Pointers tacked on another goal as
Carly Falk (Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) knocked in a rebound, giving UWSP the 3-0 edge.
Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) and
Mary Burch (Center City, MN/Chisago Lakes) split time in net for the Pointers, combining for the three-save shutout. St. Mary's Miranda Halling tallied 10 saves on the afternoon.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when it plays host to UW-River Falls.
