WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team fell to No. 16 UW-Whitewater 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 22-25, 25-27) Wednesday night. It marked the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss for No. 20 UWSP this season.

The Pointers (14-4, 3-1 WIAC) won the first set 25-22, which was capped off with a service ace by
Sarah Wildish (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls).
UWSP jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set, but with the teams tied at 16 the Warhawks (16-6, 3-1 WIAC) scored six consecutive points and never looked back for the rest of the match.
UWW built a 15-10 lead in the fourth set, but UWSP battled back to claim an 18-16 lead. The squads went point-for-point down the stretch, but the Warhawks prevailed to win the set and the match.
Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) led the Pointers with 14 kills to go along with 10 digs.
Hannah Picel (West Bend, WI/West Bend West) led all players with 25 digs while
Cassidy Kohlhagen (Racine, WI/Union Grove) added 17.
The Pointers play their first home match of the season Friday, Oct. 5 when they host UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
