Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna)'s three-point attempt was off target as time expired and the 13th-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the 2011-12 campaign in a match-up against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe UW-River Falls on Wednesday night, 73-70.
UWSP's cagers led at halftime, 40-30, on 50 percent shooting from the field, but could not hold on for a road win. UWSP committed just two turnovers in first half.
Three Pointers scored in double figures on the evening, led by
Tyler Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph)'s 18 points and six rebounds.
Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) chipped in with 16 points and
Dan Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph/Minnesota-Duluth) added 15.
UW-Stevens Point (10-3, 3-1 WIAC) returns to action Saturday afternoon at the Quandt Fieldhouse when it plays host to UW-Eau Claire at 5 p.m. Saturday is also Youth/Honor America Day.
