WHITEWATER, Wis. - The 25th-ranked UW-Stevens Point wrestling team won two of its four duals Saturday at the 2012 Border Brawl hosted by UW-Whitewater, posting victories over unranked Simpson and Trine.
The Pointers lost match-ups against 13th-ranked Elmhurst and No. 8 Olivet.
Elmhurst overwhelmed the Pointers in the first round, defeating UWSP 23-9. Olivet downed the Pointers 30-6 in the second round, but UWSP bounced back to finish strong in the final two rounds. The Pointers overpowered Simpson round and defeated Trine 36-13 in the fourth and final round.
The Pointers worked for three pins against Simpson.
Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI/Gladstone) earned the team's first pin in 3:41,
Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) recorded a pin in 3:53 and
Matt Cuadra (Oshkosh, WI/West) capped off the round with a pin in 1:40.
Cuadra battled for his second pin of the day in the Pointers' fourth-round win over Trine. Mileski earned a win via forfeit, and Kust won in dominating fashion 17-0.
Both Mileski and Kust earned victories in all four of their matches.
The Pointers travel to Kenosha on Wednesday for a match with UW-Parkside beginning at 7 p.m.
