The weekend sweep marks back-to-back seasons the Pointers have started with perfect 4-0 records.
"Overall it was a good start to the season and the team did a great job of stepping up after a few players went down with injuries," said head coach Stacey White. "For a young team, they showed great tenacity by coming back from behind in a few of the sets to win. We have a tough schedule coming up so we need to continue to improve."
The Pointers opened the day against fellow unbeaten St. Catherine University and played their way to a 3-0 victory 25-23, 25-20, 25-23. Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) led the way with 10 kills on 17 swings while Sarah Wildish (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) tallied nine kills. Ally Groth (Germantown, WI/Germantown) led the way with 22 digs defensively.
In the invitational's final match, the Pointers made quick work of Ripon College, earning the 3-0 victory. Bartkowiak again led the way for the Pointers, recording a match-high nine kills while Wildish added seven and Kati Rau (Dorchester, WI/Colby) chipped in six.
