Pointers win a pair at Marian Tri

FOND DU LAC – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team cruised to two 3-0 victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating Marian University and Beloit College to improve to 7-5 on the season.

The Pointers opened the day with a straight set victory over the host Sabres, winning 25-12, 25-18, 27-25. Fifteen different Pointers saw action in the match as Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) led the way with seven kills and Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) chipped in with six. Brinkman and Ally Groth (Germantown, WI/Germantown) each had a team-best 11 digs.

In the nightcap, the Pointers rolled to another straight set victory, defeating Beloit College 25-17, 25-8, 25-9. Brinkman again recorded seven digs in the victory.

UW-Stevens Point next kicks off a six match home stretch on Wednesday, Sept. 21 when the Pointers take on UW-Whitewater in conference action beginning at 7 p.m.
