LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team fell to three nationally-ranked opponents Saturday, falling to Saint John's (Minn.) 28-12, St. Cloud State 29-9 and Cornell (Iowa) 25-16.
Against sixth-ranked Saint John's,
Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon),
Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI/Gladstone),
Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) and
Matt Cuadra (Oshkosh, WI/West) all tallied victories for the Pointers at 125, 133, 174 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Facing St. Cloud State, the number one-ranked team in Division II, Fabrey and Mileski and
Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI/Neenah) (157) all won by decision.
Fifth-ranked Cornell College was the final opponent for UWSP with Mileski and Cuadra winning by decision while teammates Conat and
Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) won by fall and by major decision, respectively.
Mileski led the Pointers going 3-0 on the day and is currently 12-1 overall and ranked fourth in the country at 133 pounds. Mileski defeated the third-ranked wrestler in his win by decision against Chad Henle of St. John's.
UWSP will be back in action Saturday as the host Carroll University at 7 p.m. in Berg Gym.
