STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Seven UW-Stevens Point wrestlers placed in the top six on Saturday as the Pointers opened the 2011-12 season by hosting the annual Pointer Open Wrestling Tournament at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) and Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano) each posted second-place finishes on the day in their respective weight classes. Conat's only loss on the afternoon came against Luke Rynish, a two-time NCAA Division II runner-up from UW-Parkside.

Dustin Wozniak (Stanley, WI/Stanley-Boyd) finished third at 197 pounds while Shane Sweeney (Madison, WI/Edgewood) and Lance Fabry (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) each posted fourth-place finishes at 149 and 125 pounds, respectively.

Andy Borchardt (Edgar, WI/Edgar) posted a fifth-place finish in his debut for the Pointers, while Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) finished sixth at 165.

The Pointers open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 8 with a dual against Lakeland College. The event will be held at Pulaski High School.
