MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team shot 62 percent from the floor in the opening half against the Badgers of UW-Madison on Saturday evening, but were unable to overcome a cold-shooting second half as they fell 80-54 in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center.
Hot shooting in the first half allowed the Pointers to keep the score within reach as UWSP trailed UW by just 12, 45-33, at the half. UW shot 60 percent from three-point range in the opening stanza.
In the second half, it was all Bucky, as the nation's 15th-ranked team pulled away for the 26-point victory.

Dan Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph/Minnesota-Duluth) led all scorers with 24 points on an 8-for-17 shooting night including three three-pointers. He also finished a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line on the night.
Jordan Brezinski (Muskego, WI/Muskego) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds on the evening in the exhibition tune-up.
UW-Stevens Point, which opens the season on Nov. 15 against Lawrence, takes to the floor of Quandt Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Nov. 9 for the annual Purple/Gold scrimmage. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
