Pointers hold off late second half surge to defeat Stockton

YORK, Pa. – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's basketball team continues its winning ways on Friday evening, defeating Richard Stockton University 86-77  in the White Rose City Classic. 
 
The Pointers started out hot, hitting their first 11 shots from the field. UWSP went on to shoot 63 percent from the field in the first half (15-24) and a blistering 75 percent from behind the arc as the Pointers took a 45-30 lead into the half.
 
UWSP cooled in the second half, as Stockton pulled within three with six minutes to go, 65-62.

The Pointers turned it on again, building an 11-point lead with under two minutes to play. UWSP and Stockton traded baskets for the remainder for the game, as the Pointers went on to win 86-77.
 
Tyler Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph) led UWSP with 23 points while Trevor Hass (New London, WI/New London/Augustana (SD)) tallied 20. Dan Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph/Minnesota-Duluth) and Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) chipped in with 15 and 13 points, respectively. D. Tillema also recorded eight rebounds.
 
Stockton's Kevin Johnson led all scorers with 24 points.
 
The Pointers advance to play York for the tournament championship at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
