MENOMONIE – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team dropped its second straight conference contest on Thursday afternoon, falling 2-1 to the Blue Devils of UW-Stout.
The victory by the Blue Devils is the first defeat of the Pointers since 2004 and second ever in program history.
Grace Salwasser gave the host Blue Devils the early lead, scoring on a long pass from Jesse Lankford in the game's 18th minute.
Stout's Alix Hyduke made the lead 2-0 in the 38th minute, scoring off a pass from Emily Stanke.
UW-Stevens Point's
Lauryn Semling cut the deficit in half in the second half, scoring in the 60th minute, but UWSP could not score the equalizer, suffering the loss.
The Pointers (7-4, 3-2 WIAC) return to action with a homecoming day match-up against Carroll University. Game time has been moved up to 11 a.m. at the Point Soccer Bowl.
