Soccer falls on Senior Day, 4-1 to St. Olaf

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team allowed four first-half goals to St. Olaf College and was unable to mount a comeback, falling 4-1 Saturday afternoon to the Oles on Senior Day.

Lindsay Howard put the Oles on the board with her 10th goal of the season 24:43 into the first period.

Stevens Point did not wait long to answer as Sammy Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford) tied the game 25 seconds later on her eighth goal of the season. Jessica Ruch (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) was credited with the assist.

St. Olaf managed three more goals in the first period on scores from Megan Fellows, Rachael Stets and another from Howard.

The Pointers were unable to score on their seven shots in the second period resulting in a 4-1 victory for the Oles. Nora Forbes tallied six saves in the victory and Brittany Marx (Washburn, WI/Washburn) saved two.

Howard was part of every scoring play as she had two goals and two assists.

UW-Stevens Point (9-7) will wrap up its regular season next Saturday when the Pointers travel to UW-Platteville to take on the Pioneers. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
