WINNECONNE, Wis. – In the team's final tune-up before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the UW-Stevens Point women's cross country team posted a second-place finish in the six team field at the UW-Oshkosh Open at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.
The Pointers finished second to UW-Madison, whose runners finished in eight of the top nine spots.
For the Pointers,
Emilia Kenow (La Crosse, WI/La Crosse Logan) finished 10th with a time of 24:53.
Molly Cobb (Madison, WI/LaFollette) finished 11th posting a time of 25:02,
Melissa Kohlhagen (Lodi, WI/Lodi) finished 12th with a time of 25:05,
Paige Haberkorn (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) was 13th with a time of 25:08 and
Amanda Ross (Wilton, WI/Brookwood) finished 16th with her time of 25:22.
Elsewhere,
Kati Long (Green Bay, WI/Preble) came in 17th place with a time of 25:32, Chandler Mellon finished 21st with a time of 26:01,
Erin Vollmer (West Allis, WI/Hale) finished 26th with a time of 26:44, Caitlin Kitson finished 28th with a time of 26:49,
Suzan Jaworski finished 29th with a time of 27:18,
Julie Krzykowski finished 31st with a time of 27:52,
Bethany Kautz (Bartlett, WI/Westminister Christian) finished 34th with a time of 27:57 and
Cassandra Caine (Watertown, WI/Dodgeland) finished 39th with a time of 28:35.
The Pointers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax for the 34th annual WIAC Women's Golf Championship. UW-Eau Claire is the four-time defending champion of the event. UWSP will be in search of its first conference title since 2004 and third in program history.
