Soccer slides past St. Mary's 2-0

Box Score

WINONA, Minn. – Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha) and Sarah Vitale (River Falls, WI/River Falls) each tallied goals on Wednesday evening as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team defeated St. Mary's University 2-0 in nonconference action in Minnesota.

Both UW-Stevens Point goals came in the game's opening half, as Gallow tallied her eighth goal of the season in the 36th minute off a Megan Mahoney (Kenosha, WI/Tremper) pass.

Not to be outdone, freshman Sarah Vitale (River Falls, WI/River Falls) tallied her first career goal just six minutes later off with a little help from Gallow.

Brittany Marx (Washburn, WI/Washburn) had a relatively easy night in net, as the Pointer defense in front of her did not allow a shot on goal.

UW-Stevens Point (9-6) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when it hosts St. Olaf College in the final nonconference match-up of the season.  The Pointers will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with a 2 p.m. kick-off.
