Falcons hand Pointers first conference loss

RIVER FALLS – UW-River Falls broke a 1-1 tie with a second half goal by Eryn Lansverk, her second of the game, 14:56 into the second period, to hand the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team their first conference loss Saturday afternoon in River Falls.

UW-River Falls tallied the first goal of the game from Lansverk 21:12 into the first period assisted by Janae Baron.

Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha) evened the game at one apiece as she connected with her fifth goal of the season 6:38 later.
Lansverk broke the tie in the second period with her fourth goal of the season.

The Pointers outshot the Falcons on the day, 23-12.  Gallow led the team with nine shots while Lauryn Semling (Plover, WI/SPASH), Sammy Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford) and Kim Jobke (Menomonee Falls, WI/Sussex Hamilton) each tallied three.

Stevens Point's Brittany Marx (Washburn, WI/Washburn) recorded four saves in the loss and Rachel Thompson saved three to earn the win.

UW-Stevens Point (7-3, 3-1) will return to action Thursday when they travel to Menomonie to face UW-Stout. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
