STEVENS POINT – Coach Shirley Egner notched her 400th career win at UW-Stevens Point on Alumni Day as her Pointers cruised to a 95-49 victory over UW-Superior on Saturday afternoon in Berg Gymnasium.

Christin Coles (Hustisford/Hustisford) managed to get the Pointers off to a hot start as she connected on three of the teams first four baskets, including two three-pointers, to give UW-Stevens Point a 10-2 advantage.

The Pointers continued to add to their lead as their hot shooting continued as well as playing strong defense.  Point connected on 21-of-35 of their shots in the first half including 7-of-14 from three.

The defense forced UW-Superior to turn the ball over as they scored 21 points off turnovers compared to the Yellowjackets four.  The Pointers were able to take a 56-27 lead into halftime.

Brooke Allen (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) opened up the second half just as Coles did in the first as she connected on three three-pointers giving the Pointers a 76-43 lead with 8:36 remaining in the game.

UW-Stevens Point was able to add on with their bench as 12 of the 13 players who played scored.  The Pointers bench outscored the Yellowjackets 46-28 on the day, led by Liz Althoff (Darien, WI/Clinton) with 11 and Josi Schultz (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) with 10.

The Pointers took their biggest lead at 46 on their final basket, resulting in a 95-49 final score.

Britta Petersen (Luck/Luck) shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the field to lead the Pointers with 18 points.  Coles also scored in double figures with 13.  Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) controlled the paint as she led both teams with nine rebounds.

Of Point's 38 baskets made, 28 of those were assisted with Andrea Flease (New London/New London) leading the way with seven.

Hailey Hart was the only Yellowjacket in double figures with 13 points.

UW-Stevens Point (18-2, 11-0 WIAC) will continue their conference play as they travel to UW-Stout to face the Blue Devils.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
