LA CROSSE – Chad Gregory (Lawton, OK/Lawton) and Brad Kuehn (Hugo, MN/) each tallied victories on Friday evening for the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team but it was not enough as the eighth-ranked Pointers fell to the second-ranked Eagles of UW-La Crosse 27-9 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action at Mitchell Hall. 

The Eagles built a 24-0 lead before Gregory earned six team points for UWSP with a pin over UW-L's John Poppie at the six minute mark. Gregory held a 7-2 edge in the match before securing the pin. 

Kuehn earned the final three points for the Pointers in the evening's final match with a 10-7 victory over UW-L's Matt Cole. 

The loss drops the Pointers to 6-6 overall and is their first setback in conference action, 2-1.   UW-La Crosse improves to 10-3 overall, 4-0 in WIAC action. 

UW-Stevens Point returns to action Saturday, Jan. 22 with four matches at the Border Brawl, hosted at UW-Whitewater.
