Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) and
Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) each tallied 44 kills in four matches over the weekend as the UW-Stevens Point volleyball team pushed its record to 12-5 overall with three victories at the 2010 Red Hawk Volleyball Invite Friday and Saturday. The Pointers took home the invite's team tile with a record of 3-1.
The Pointers tallied victories over UW-River Falls, Lakeland and Maranatha Baptist. The only loss on the weekend came in a five set marathon against host Ripon College in which the Pointers held a 2-0 lead.
Bartkowiak and
Molly Elderbrook (Burlington/Burlington) earned all-tournament honors for their efforts on the weekend. Bartkowiak added 14 blocks and six service aces to her 44 kills on the weekend. Elderbrook played in all 18 games on the weekend at libero, recording 72 digs, 4.0 per game.
Kati Rau (Dorchester, WI/Colby) followed close behind Brinkman and Bartkowiak, notching 41 kills including 12 kills against River Falls and 11 against Maranatha.
The Pointers return home for the first time since the season's opening weekend when they host the University of St. Scholastica in a non-conference match Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
