SUPERIOR – Kirsti Nickels (Appleton/East) scored a hat-trick coming off the bench and Liz Hunter (Stevens Point/SPASH) logged her fifth shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Pointer women's soccer team tallied a 9-0 victory over the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior.

The Pointers used goals from Stephanie Wolf (Kenosha/Bradford), Sarah Gugel (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee), Nickels and Jessica Zeisse (Wauwatosa/West) to build a 4-0 lead in the game's opening half.

In the second half, Sam Greer (Rubicon, WI/Hartford) added two goals of her own, Nickels added two more to complete the hat-trick and Zeisse added another as the Pointers cruised to the 9-0 win.

Hunter needed to make just one save on the afternoon as the Pointers out-shot the Yellowjackets 42-3.

Ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point (7-0, 2-0 WIAC) will host the Falcons of UW-River Falls next Saturday, Sept. 25 in a 2 p.m. match-up at the Point Soccer Bowl.
