Greer leads Pointers past Redlands, 2-1

STEVENS POINT- Sammy Greer scored with 2:50 left in the first overtime period to help lead the Pointers soccer team past University of Redlands (Calif.) on Friday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl.

Greer dribbled past and beat the goalie to tally her second goal of the game and help improve the Pointers record to 4-0 on the season.

Greer also had the first goal of the game for the Pointers, a scoring strike that came in the middle of the first half.

The Bulldogs answered that with a goal of their own, the first goal given up by the Pointers on a shot from Chelsea Hafley. Hafley scored off a free kick with 18:09 left in the second half.

Pointer goalkeeper Liz Hunter had three saves for the Pointers, including a save on a penalty kick towards the end of the first half. Hunter also made a big save late in the second half to keep the game tied at one.

The Pointers return to action on Sunday against Cornell (Iowa) at the Point Soccer Bowl. The game is schedule for a noon start time.
