DE PERE, Wis. –
Scott Williams threw a complete game eight-hitter and the Pointers scored three runs in the second and three in the sixth to salvage a series split with the Green Knights of St. Norbert College, taking game two 8-1. The Pointers dropped game one 5-4.
Offensively in game one, the Pointers scored two unearned in the top of the first and added runs in both the second and fifth.
Jeremy Richter finished the game 3-for-5 while
Dan Douglas and
Jordan Rennicke each tallied two hits in the loss.
Joel Delorit got the start, going five plus innings, scattering six hits and allowing two earned runs. He also struck out four before giving way to
Tyler Lorenz. Lorenz surrendered two runs on two hits, striking out four but gave up a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to take the loss.
In game two,
Brad Archambeau provided a spark on offense, driving in two runs in a three run second inning. Archambeau added another RBI in the sixth, as the Pointers again pushed three runs across the plate, adding to a 4-0 lead.
The lead gave Willaims' a cushion as he cruised to the victory, facing six batters more than the minimum.
The 15th-ranked Pointers (7-4) return to action on Saturday, April 4 when they travel to Ripon College for a Noon doubleheader with the Red Hawks.
