Falcons Drop Pointers 2-1

STEVENS POINT – Ben Beaudolin scored the game winner for the UW-River Falls men's hockey team just 36 seconds after the Pointers tied the game midway through the second period and held off UW-Stevens Point to earn a 2-1 victory Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.

The visiting Falcons (15-7-2, 9-6-2 NCHA) struck first with 16:57 gone in the opening period as Tyler Czuba scored off assists from Josh Calleja and Tyler Pederson.

The Pointers answered on the power play with 11:20 gone in the second, as Harrison Niemann (Canton, MI/Novi) scored his eighth goal of the season off assists from Luke Nesper (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) and Garrett Suter (Madison/Oregon).

Just 36 seconds later, at the 11:56 mark, Beaudolin found the back of the net, scoring what proved to be the game winner, putting UW-River Falls in front 2-1.

River Falls' Bo Storozuk stopped 20 of the 30 Pointer shots on goal Friday evening while Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) tallied 27 in the loss.

The Pointers (10-13-1, 5-12-0 NCHA) return to action Saturday evening when they close out the regular season against the Blue Devils of UW-Stout. Action begins at 7:30 p.m.
