WHITEWATER- Britta Petersen (Luck/Luck) had 24 points and eight rebounds to help lead the Pointers to their third consecutive WIAC win as the 18^th ranked Pointers defeated the 15^th ranked Warhawks of UW-Whitewater 83-69 Wednesday night.

Petersen was terrific all night offensively as she made 10 of 13 shots from the field and four of four from the free throw line.

The Pointers led by as many as 15 in the second half and held off every UW-Whitewater run they faced to pull out the 14 point victory.

Petersen wasn't the only Pointer who shot the ball well, as the Pointers finished the game shooting 53 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three point range.  Sam Barber also scored in double digits as she finished with 11 points.

The Pointers were also very solid on defense as they forced 25 Warhawk turnovers.  It was the seventh time in eight games the Pointers have forced at least 20 turnovers.  Petersen led the way with four steals.

Senior guard Andrea Flease (New London/New London) also had a strong showing as she led the team with six assists to go along with nine points on the night.

The Pointers had 10 different players score, as once again their bench outperformed their opponents bench.  For the game the Pointers bench outscored the Warhawks reserves 36-23.

Dana Thompson led the Warhawks as she finished with 19 points and a game high 10 rebounds.

The win was the fifth straight for the Pointers.  On the season the Pointers improved to 7-1 overall and they sit atop the WIAC standings with a 3-0 mark in league play.

The Pointers will return to action when they host 13^th ranked Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday at Berg Gynasium at 2:00 p.m.  Last season the Pointers defeated the Titans in the NCAA Tournament on a game-winning layup by Ashley Averkamp (New Berlin, WI/West).
